Junior Choir

The junior choir at St Mary's consists of young people from 8 -18 and is a lively and valued part of the church and Whickham communities.

Choir practices take place on a Thursday from 6:20 - 7:45.  The choir meet on Sundays at 9:15 for the 9:30 Holy Communion Service and at 6:15 for 6:30 Evensong.  The choir also sing at some of the weddings held in church for which fees are paid. 

The junior choir provides many opportunites that include:

• Learning to sing and how to read music - a good grounding in vocal technique for all styles of music!
• Working for diocesan Deans and Bishops awards
• Attending music courses with choir funding
• Participating in RSCM Voice for Life Scheme Training and Awards

As a reward for their contribution to the worship of the church, the choir have enjoyed outings to plays, pantomimes, bowling and a Christmas party.
